2004 HURRICANE SEASON (article last updated September, 2005)
The summer of 2004 introduced many new challenges for Lambert Corporation.
We have recently gone through two major hurricanes in central Florida: Charley and Frances. These forces of nature have torn throught the state causing power and telephone outages, blocked roads from downed trees, flooding and so much property damage.
Ivan went to the panhandle of the state, but Jeanne is targeting the peninsula making it the third storm in six weeks to directly impact this area of the state.
SUPPLIERS: Not only has there been a shortage of portland cement throughout the construction industry this year, with recent storms, we have had difficulty and delays receiving other raw materials from our suppliers. Several plants have been closed due to the storms and/or damage. Others have had backlogs on orders due to delays with shipping to the area. These raw materials are used in the production of many of our products. Though Ivan did not hit our central Florida area, the storm did impact the freight (rail and trucking) lines, shipment scheduling and in a couple cases price gouging! We have tried to limit the delay to the consumer, but some extra processing, production and shipment time is to be expected for the next few weeks.
LAMBERT: There have also been delays with product shipments from Lambert Corporation. Our office has had to close twice for the impending storms, removing two shipping days from our calendar. A third may be necessary for Jeanne. So far this season, we sustained no damage. But like most companies in the area, we have had partial staffing after each storm while employees repair roofs, automobiles, dig out from under trees and limbs and make arrangements for child care. Staff able to come in immediately worked extra hours to get as many orders shipped as possible. Though many orders shipped from Lambert on time, many more delays have been incurred by our customers as the freight carriers parked their trucks for safety. Even having a shortage of fuel kept freight from moving once the roads cleared!
We apologize for any delay the weather has already caused and will continue to impact and ask your patience with this very unusual situation!
Please please allow additional production and shipment time on your orders!
Call to verify critical shipments.
